Martin J. Healy  MSPT, ATC

(Master of Science in Physical Therapy, Certified Athletic Trainer)

Martin has been working in the field of Physical Therapy with emphasis in orthopedics and sports medicine for 26 years. Martin started Coastal Therapy in 2001 and has served proudly as President and lead Physical Therapist. He prides himself on improving his patients quality of life in the field of physical therapy. He practices under the motto “Back to work, Back to Sport, Back to Life…Coastal Therapy.”
Martin has been in the Savannah area over 20 years now. Prior to opening Coastal Therapy, he previously worked for Memorial Sports Medicine and Candler Sports Medicine. Martin has worked with many different athletic programs and events over the years including the 1996 Summer Olympics, The 1992 and 1988 Olympic Track and Field Trials, the Pan-American Games, the World Indoor Track and Field Championships and many other events. Martin has also worked with various high schools (including Calvary HS), colleges (including Franklin College, Kenyon College and Baldwin-Wallace College) and various sports groups including Chain baseball.

Martin was raised in Northern Ohio and graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College (BW) with a BS degree in Biology in 1984. Martin was a four year letterman in track and cross country at BW and was team captain and conference champion his senior year. Martin then worked a year as an assistant athletic trainer at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Martin graduated from University of Indianapolis (Krannert Graduate School of Physical Therapy) in 1987. Soon after, Martin received his license to practice physical therapy and his certification in athletic training.

Martin enjoys running and has run 10 marathons, numerous half marathons and 10K, 5K road races. He also enjoys working out, golfing, boating and loves the lifestyle the Savannah and Lowcountry area allows.
